I am a passionate advocate for teachers and students in world language classrooms. I believe in the power of language learning to change students' lives and perspectives, and to impact all areas of their lives. I recently moved to sunny southern California so I am surrounded by the richness of Spanish languages and cultures. I've worn many hats in my almost six years with EMC School and Carnegie Learning, bringing world languages content, digital technology and professional development to teachers and students across the country. I earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Business and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Spanish from Geneva College, and later, a Master’s degree in Spanish focusing on Hispanic Linguistics from the University of Pittsburgh. My background includes over a decade of experience in the business world that began in my hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; applying my language skills, technology and training expertise. A move to Texas allowed me to indulge in my true passion, teaching high school Spanish beginning in 2010 for all levels, including dual credit and native speaker courses, as well as serving as an adjunct Spanish professor at a local community college before joining Carnegie Learning in 2017. I've presented at ACTFL and many regional and state conferences on a variety of topics including addressing bias in the world language classroom. My greatest accomplishment to date by far is co-authoring a Spanish for Spanish speakers program with a unique way to reach all students in those classrooms. Now as the Director of Product Management, I'm committed to creating innovative, technology driven world language content that moves teachers and students along the path to proficiency.
